Safety
Stearyl alcohol is non-toxic and non-irritating. There have been reports of side effects in topical formulations, including rubella and allergic reactions, possibly caused by impurities contained in them. Oral lethal dose in humans > 15 g/kg. LD50 (rat, oral) > 20 g/kg.
