Adsorbents are also known as absorbents. This substance allows the active ingredient to attach to the surface of its particles, turning the liquid micro-compound additive into a solid compound, which is conducive to the implementation of uniform mixing. It is a solid substance that can effectively absorb some of its components from a gas or liquid.

The adsorbent has the following characteristics:
Adsorbents are used for a variety of purposes in pharmaceutical dosage forms. They are agents that will either allow substances to stick or adhere to them or to migrate into their physical structure. They frequently serve as carrier, reservoirs, sequestrants, as well as filters and clarifying agents. Interestingly, they can be used as either excipients or active pharmaceutical ingredients.
One of the most commonly used adsorbents is active carbon, which is made by carbonizing and activating carbon-containing raw materials such as charcoal, fruit shells, and coal. Activated carbon has a huge specific surface area and rich pore structure, to achieve great filtering and reservoir effect.
