Injections

Injections refers to the sterile solution (including emulsion and suspension) made of drugs for injection into the body and the sterile powder or concentrated solutions that are formulated into solutions or suspensions just before use. The injection is fast and reliable, not affected by pH, enzyme, food, etc., and has no first pass effect. It can play a role of systemic or local positioning. It is suitable for patients who are not suitable for oral medicine and cannot take oral medicine. However, the development and production process of the injection is complex, with poor safety and adaptability, and high cost.

Injections include a variety of therapeutic agents. More than 400 injection products are listed in USP. If intravenous administration is preferred, only the dosage form may be a solution or microemulsion. Alternatively, if the route of administration is intramuscular or subcutaneous, the dosage form is a suspension or other particulate drug delivery system.
