Results:
This review provides a brief overview of the characteristics of solid lipid nanoparticles and discusses the relevance of conducting systematic preformulation studies. The main applications and advantages of such nanoparticles in certain therapeutic regimens are also discussed. Pharmacokinetic aspects such as route of administration, absorption after oral administration, distribution in the body and elimination processes are presented next. Safety and toxicity issues are also discussed. Our study presents a novel perspective that explores the biopharmaceutical aspects of state-of-the-art solid lipid nanoparticles through descriptive statistics of these nanoparticles.
