pH value is one of the important indicators for testing the properties of transdermal patches and is of great significance for understanding the chemical properties, physical properties, and stability of the patches. CD Formulation can provide you with professional transdermal formulation surface pH testing.
Transdermal patches require direct contact with the skin, so their surface pH has a direct impact on skin irritation. If the pH value of a transdermal patch exceeds the normal pH range of the skin, it may cause dryness, stinging, itching or other uncomfortable reactions. In addition, maintaining the transdermal patch within a certain pH range ensures its stability. A pH value that is too high or too low may lead to changes in the composition of the transdermal patch, drug failure, texture changes, or bacterial growth, thereby affecting the effectiveness and safety of the product.
Through transdermal formulation surface pH testing, we can provide you with the following services:
By testing the pH value of a transdermal patch, you can understand the acid-base properties of the patch and determine whether it meets the specified range.
The stability of drugs is related to their pH value. Some drugs have higher stability within a specific pH value range, but may decompose or deteriorate beyond this range.
Our steps for transdermal formulation surface pH testing are as follows:

Compared with other pH meters, our existing pH meters are more suitable for pH testing in the pharmaceutical industry:
Advantages |
Level 0.001, high resolution/accuracy (0.1/0.01/0.001pH; 1/0.1/0.01 mV). |
Buffer: 8 groups + 1 customized group, including buffer groups 4.01, 6.86, 9.18. |
Calibration: 1-9 points, meeting various calibration needs. | Three endpoint modes (automatic, manual, and time), are suitable for different samples. |
GLP measurement, continuous measurement, meeting the needs of long-term automatic measurement work. |

Results: The present study was designed to prepare transdermal films of CS and MMT polymer composites. The transdermal films were evaluated in terms of thickness, weight variation, tensile strength, extensibility, surface pH, moisture content, percent moisture absorption, drug content, folding endurance, swelling ratio, in vitro dissolution studies and in vitro skin permeation studies.

We test the moisture content percentage of the patch according to the requirements of the drug regulatory agency for transdermal patches to ensure that it meets the requirements of relevant regulations and standards.
