Transdermal formulation folding endurance testing is of great significance to ensure the safety, effectiveness, and stability of the preparations. CD Formulation can provide you with professional transdermal formulation folding endurance testing services.
The folding endurance of a formulation is directly related to its effectiveness and stability. If the formulation is easily broken or deformed after being folded or bent, the active ingredients of the drug may be affected, resulting in reduced efficacy or failure. Through folding endurance testing, it can be ensured that the formulation can maintain its original effectiveness and stability under various conditions, avoid drug leakage or uneven administration, and thus ensure the therapeutic effect.
We usually fold the formulation repeatedly under certain conditions and observe changes in its structure, drug release performance, adhesion and appearance to evaluate its folding resistance.
Evaluate whether the formulation has structural damage such as cracking, delamination, degumming, etc. after being folded multiple times. These damages may affect the sealing properties of the formulation and the uniformity of drug release.
For transdermal formulations that are required to adhere to the skin, folding resistance testing should also include an assessment of their adhesion. Repeated folding may reduce the adhesion of the formulation, causing it to fall off or shift easily on the skin.
Our transdermal formulation folding endurance testing process is as follows:

We can provide you with the following commonly used transdermal formulation folding endurance instruments:
Instrument | Description |
Folding testing machine | A folding test machine is a device that can simulate the stress a product will endure during repeated folding. It can simulate the folding conditions that transdermal formulation may suffer in actual use by setting parameters such as folding angle, frequency, and times. |
Adhesion tester | For transdermal formulations that need to adhere to the skin, an adhesion tester is a commonly used instrument to evaluate their folding resistance. |

Results: In the study, different nanocomposite films of HNT and PVA as a drug carriers were developed using a facile and convenient method for the controlled transdermal delivery of propranolol HCl . The physicochemical characteristics were evaluated, including weight and thickness variation, folding endurance, moisture uptake, moisture content, and drug content. The release and permeation behavior of the drug from the system were determined using the Franz diffusion cell.
