Ointments are crucial in various medical fields such as dermatology, surgery, and gynecology. CD Formulation specializes in supporting the development of ointment transdermal formulations, providing comprehensive services from drug screening and formulation design to process development and performance testing.

Ointments are semi-solid topical formulations that combine raw materials with oily or water-soluble bases. Their unique characteristics—soft texture, ease of application, and protective film formation—enable sustained drug release at the targeted site, enhancing therapeutic efficacy. The development of ointments is critical for drug effectiveness and patient acceptance. They can be categorized into solution, suspension, and emulsion types, with emulsion ointments also known as creams.
CD Formulation's platform offers a full range of services—from drug screening to performance testing—designed to accelerate ointment product development and reduce costs.
We provide formulation development services for various dispersion systems, including solution, suspension, and emulsion types (creams).

Through nanotechnology, drug particles can be prepared into nanoscale size, thereby improving the permeability of drugs, improving the release behavior of drugs, and thus improving the efficacy and reducing side effects. For example, new carrier systems such as nanoliposomes and nano microspheres have been used in ointments.
This technology encapsulates drugs in tiny capsules and achieves sustained and controlled release of drugs by the release rate of capsules. This can not only improve the efficacy of drugs but also reduce the frequency of administration and the medication burden of patients.
Laser technology can promote the transdermal absorption of drug ingredients in ointments, while ultrasound technology may be used to improve local blood circulation and drug distribution.
The development of transdermal ointment formulations aims to deliver drugs through the skin to achieve local or systemic therapeutic effects. During the development process, key quality attributes such as stability, bioavailability, skin permeability, safety and efficacy of the formulations need to be focused on. We are committed to solving the technical barriers of transdermal drug delivery formulations and improving product quality and efficacy.
