A matrix transdermal patch is a patch used for transdermal drug delivery. The drug is embedded within a matrix or reservoir. The drug is released through the skin at a controlled rate, which is determined by the composition of the matrix and other factors. The backing layer is usually made of materials like polyester or polyethylene, it provides structural support. The adhesive layer helps the patch adhere to the skin and prevents drug leakage.

Results: In this matrix system, the transdermal patch includes a drug layer comprising a semisolid matrix containing a drug solution or suspension. The adhesive layer of this patch partially surrounds the drug layer. Notably, this particular transdermal type lacks a membrane.
