The solvent casting method is the most commonly used preparation technology, and its process is simply to dissolve or suspend film-forming materials, raw materials, and other excipients in appropriate solvents, such as water, ethanol, acetone, etc. The air bubbles are removed after mixing evenly, and then cast on the mold or coated with the film-forming agent and cut and packaged after drying. With years of development, CD Formulation has established a solvent casting platform based on experienced experts and advanced instruments.

The solvent casting method is the most common approach for preparing oral thin films using water-soluble excipients, polymers, and drugs dissolved in deionized water. A uniform mixture is obtained by applying a high shear force generated by the shear processor. The prepared solution is then poured onto a petri dish and exposed to high temperatures to dry, resulting in a high-quality film.

Results: In the present research, the films of loratadine were prepared by solvent casting method using dichloromethane and methanol as solvents. The prepared films were evaluated for drug content, weight variation, thickness, and in vitro/in vivo disintegration time. The in vitro and in vivo disintegration time of the optimized formulation was found to be below 29 seconds and 24 seconds respectively. The prepared film has good integrity and thickness.
