Oral thin film pilot scale-up manufacturing refers to the process of transitioning a formulation for an oral thin film medication from small-scale laboratory production to a larger-scale pilot production, in order to achieve a larger quantity of the product for testing and evaluation. CD Formulation has rich experience and expertise and is able to provide customers with overall solutions to ensure the smooth progress of the pilot scale-up phase and lay a solid foundation for commercial production. We not only focus on oral thin film products' performance and stability, but also on process operability and production sustainability.
Oral thin film pilot scale-up manufacturing involves the determination of manufacturing processes, methods, product quality, safety and efficacy in preparation for final commercial production, while also identifying and resolving any potential issues that may arise.
As an oral thin film contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), CD Formulation provides unparalleled pilot scale-up services for the development of oral thin film, we have different manufacturing methods to meet the pilot scale-up of different types of oral thin films, including solvent casting method, hot melt extrusion method, semi-solid casting method, etc.

Technology: Orodispersible film product transfer from lab-scale to pilot-scale

Results: In this study, transfer from lab-scale non-continuous production to pilot-scale continuous production of orodispersible films was provided using the solvent casting method under the framework of quality by design. The viscosity of the polymer dispersions, weight, thickness and disintegration time of the films were compared for the transfer of production. pH, moisture content, mechanical properties, folding endurance, uniformity of dosage units, dissolution, and stability studies were also performed in pilot-scale orodispersible films.
