Oral thin film organoleptic evaluation involves evaluating the taste, appearance, odor, and texture of the thin film. This evaluation helps to determine the overall acceptability and palatability of the oral thin film products, and it is an important step in ensuring that the oral thin film meets the desired sensory characteristics for consumer satisfaction. CD Formulation provides professional in vitro organoleptic evaluation services to help our customers deliver high-quality oral thin film products that meet functional requirements and good sensory experiences.
We have an experienced oral thin film organoleptic evaluation team who use professional knowledge and advanced analytical equipment to evaluate the organoleptic properties of oral thin film products, including taste, odor, texture, appearance and overall palatability, etc.
We use a texture analyzer to evaluate the texture of oral thin film to ensure that the thin film is smooth and non-gritty, providing a pleasant usage experience for patients.
We used an electronic tongue device to simulate the function and properties of the human tongue to accurately analyze and evaluate the taste of the oral thin films.
We used the electronic nose to establish the odor fingerprint of the oral thin films and comprehensively evaluate the odor during the process control of the oral thin films.
Technologies | Detailed Information |
Electronic Tongue Technology | Electronic tongue technology is an in vitro evaluation technique that simulates the human taste system using a sensor array and pattern recognition system to derive taste-related information. It is used for qualitative and quantitative analysis of taste, offering highly sensitive detection and enhanced objectivity. |
Electronic Nose Technology | The electronic nose is a sensing device that can identify unique stereochemical properties of a given odorant molecule based on the molecule's conductive interactions with polymer arrays in the device's sensors. |

Results: The current study focused on the development, optimization, and pharmaceutical evaluation of a mouth dissolving film of Escitalopram 5mg. The palatability parameters such as taste, mouthfeel, handling, and acceptability were assessed and scored on a scale set as value one (1) worst to value five (5) best. Different parameters of palatability of optimized formulations F5 and F6 were found to be acceptable.
