Oral thin film folding endurance testing is a process used to evaluate the ability of thin film formulations to withstand repeated folding without breaking or damage, and this testing is important in the development of oral thin film medications, as these products need to be able to withstand the stresses of handling and transportation without compromising their integrity. The highly qualified analysis team at CD Formulation utilizes advanced equipment to deliver accurate oral thin film folding endurance testing results, which aids in advancing research on oral thin film products.
Folding endurance represents the brittleness of oral thin films, the number of folds that break or have obvious creases after folding in the same position, the fewer the number of folds, the higher the brittleness of the thin film. For folding endurance testing of the oral thin film, we usually have direct testing and folding tester testing methods based on measurement purposes.
For direct methods, the folding endurance evaluation is carried out manually by our professional oral thin film analysis experts.
To obtain repeatable and more accurate folding endurance testing results, we usually use a folding tester to complete them. Our folding tester testing process is as follows:

Folding Endurance Testing | Detailed Information |
Folding Tester | Our thin film folding tester has high accuracy, stable performance, and traceable test records. It is a special instrument for measuring the folding endurance and mechanical properties of film. A folding tester usually consists of a platform or stand on which the oral thin film sample is securely placed. This instrument applies controlled mechanical forces to the film, causing it to bend and fold repeatedly in a consistent manner. The number of folds and the applied force can be adjusted under different conditions. |

Results: In this study, diphenhydramine hydrochloride was prepared by solvent casting method, folding endurance of the film was determined by repeatedly folding the films of uniform cross-sectional area (4*4 cm2) until it breaks. The results showed that the folding endurance of the oral thin films was found to be in the range of 35-180. The films of formulations F8, F12, F14, F15, F16, F17, Fa3, Fa5, Fa6, Fa7, Fa10, Fa12, Fa13, Fa14 showed better plasticity. The remaining formulations were found to be highly brittle.
