What is Metabolomics?

Metabolomics is defined as the non-targeted identification and quantification of all low molecular weight metabolic end products (metabolites). According to the central law, the genome, transcriptome, and proteome are presented in the form of a "signal stream," while the metabolome is considered the "outcome" of metabolism, which well reflects the events of the gene expression stream and provides valuable information about metabolism within the cell that other omics techniques cannot provide.
